The Visual UpTime\u00ae Select\u2122 T1 CSU\/DSU ASE is
\ndeployed on a T1 access line at the demarcation point
\nbetween the provider network and customer premises.
\nIt supports full and fractional (FT1) T1 networks and
\nprovides connectivity through V.35 and additional
\ndigital cross connect signal (DSX-1) interfaces.
\nThe ASE supports Multi-Protocol software for deploy-
\nment in standard frame relay or HDLC networks and
\nIP Transport software for deployment in frame relay or
\nHDLC-based networks that use IP switching.<\/p>\n

In addition to performing standard CSU\/DSU
\nfunctions\u2014such as BER tests, loopbacks, and power
\nfailure detection\u2014the ASE is capable of inserting
\nmanagement traf\ufb01c.
\nThe ASE\u2019s \u201cdrop-and-insert\u201d feature provides a
\nsecondary DSX-1 port that can connect to a Private
\nBranch Exchange at a customer\u2019s site. T1 Timeslots
